The God Of Sex, by Peter Jones

"How Spirituality Defines Your Sexuality"
I just picked this book up. That's the last time I write a "review" before I finish a book. He writes about all this negative stuff that is happening in our culture - all the bad sex, and the declining values, but he doesn't stop to tell about the work of the Holy Spirit in the world. There is no balance. He goes on and on about the negative. I am getting exhausted. I started this review without having finished the book, and I can hardly even finish the book.

It's a Christian father of seven, writing about how sexuality in today's Western culture is turning towards becoming pagan. This is scary. We need revival in a big way. It is not a comfortable book. It's disturbing reading about what is happening to our young people, particularly on college campuses today. But it's essential not to have blinders on, in order to know how to pray and how to respond. I was attracted to the book because he is saying that sexuality is turning pagan. I agree with that.

The thing is, we have been turning pagan since 1969, and Woodstock. What happened there was terribly pagan, as bad as anything happening today. We've been on a continuum since then of the same pagan thought and actions, and we've also had some Christian revival happening along with it, side by side. We are also seeing black and white more and more - more hostility towards Christianity (which is brought out in the book) and we are headed towards persecution.

I'm going to try to return to the book and finish it, but it's going to take some work. Order it here
.

Update: Feb 7, 2008
I finally finished the book and I'm glad I did. The first 2/5 of the book was spent on telling all the negative things going on in the Western culture as far as sexuality. It got heavy, and he has in intellectual style hard to read. Finally by the middle fifth of the book, he gave a biblical definition of sex that was good. He explains that the Bible clearly shows that male and female are so basic in God's creation that it is undeniable. He then goes on to show that homosexuality is simply evil, denying the basic concept of male and female, which are so important in God's creation that they will follow us into the resurrection.

He shows that homosexuality has a religious belief as its foundation - a belief in multiple gods instead of God.

At last he goes on to tell how even though sex as we know it was designed for procreation, and there will be no more need for that in the resurrection, God has in mind for us new pleasures of a sexual nature as the bride of Christ. Wow! Buying the book paid off!

It's all too wonderful, and certainly means we must all want to be there at any cost, right? It's a good evangelistic tool at this point. Heaven does include sex, just not the kind of sex we know now.

Even though sex as we know it will not exist, Peter Jones believes that we will be male and female, as we are now. When you think about it, Jesus was a man after he resurrected. He wasn't androgynous. Peter is pointing out how important the distinctions of male and female are to God.

I respect Jones for the courage to write this book, knowing the opposition to stating that homosexuality and androgyny are evil.

I Met A Witch, by Rhonda Dippon

"Battling Evil With Holy Spirit Power"
I just finished it. My mom got it for me for Christmas, but was too embarrassed by the title, so she gave it to me secretly, so I wouldn't open it in front of the family. She thought they wouldn't understand why she'd give me a book entitled "I Met A Witch."

She also doesn't want it sitting on her coffee table, even though she wants to read it. It's about a woman and her friend helping a young woman who has gotten involved in witchcraft get free from the occult by the power of the Holy Spirit. It is very exciting when the two women discover that they can calm the demonic attacks that this woman has, as she is possessed or oppressed, just through saying "out in the name of Jesus!"

The book is cool because it is true and is like a handbook for what to do in dealing with this sort of a case. It is a testimony to the power of God. It's also local, for you Minnesotans.

At the end of the book, the women tell how they "purged" their homes of every thing that had anything to do with witchcraft, which they didn't know had to do with it. They threw out old rock albums that had symbols on the covers that were questionable, etc. I understand this, because God led me to do this at one point as well. Order it here.

Vernice Hall

Vernice is a girl who got shot in North Minneapolis back at the end of the summer of '07. She is an African American, with light brown skin and pretty eyes. She was shot in the head in a drive by shooting and is never supposed to be the same. I was called upon to go pray for her healing, just out of the blue, on Christmas Eve. I brought a gift for her family, and hooked her mother up with the healing rooms of St. Paul so she could go get healing prayer on an on-going basis after her daughter is out of the hospital.

We must believe for a miracle. The devil tried to steal life from her. For now, she stares into space, and her legs are limp and require braces. The picture is a likeness of the girl, not the actual girl. Please pray for her.

Christmas and the art of saying.....

"Oh, thank you!" When what you really mean is "Oh, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, NOT THAT!"
or"Oh, you shouldn't have" When what you really mean is "Oh, why DID YOU GET ME THAT?"
or "How thoughtful" When what you really mean is, "What made you think of THAT?"

And Christmas means learning to have a "poker face" too, when opening gifts. You have to be ready with a very firm, happy expression that cleverly hides the shock that you are feeling on the inside as you open the figurine that you were saying you liked so well while window shopping with your sister, just because she liked it. Little did you know she was going to buy you one! That'll teach you to be dishonest about your feelings next time!

A Kingdavid Style Story

A woman stabbed her husband for opening his Christmas present early! Kingdavid seems good at finding stories about domestic abuse where the woman is attacking a man. That's why this one caught my interest.

The truth about Hillary

This came in an e-mail from my uncle.

DICK MORRIS' '08 PLAY-BY-PLAY ANALYSIS!

BILL CLINTON LEAVES TRUTH OUT OF HILLARY'S BIOGRAPHY

So, I wanted to make a few corrections:

Bill says: Hillary never wanted to run for public office, but she did
want to work at public service.

The facts are: When Clinton was considering not running for another term
as Governor of Arkansas in 1990, Hillary said she would run if he
didn't. She and Bill even had me
take two surveys to assess her chances of winning. The conclusion was
that
she couldn't win because people would just see her as a seat warmer for
when Bill came back licking his wounds after losing for president. So
she didn't run. Bill did and won. But there is no question she had her
eye on public office, as opposed to service, long ago.

Bill says: In law school Hillary worked on legal services for the poor.

The facts are: Hillary's main extra-curricular activity in law school
was helping the Black Panthers, on trial in Connecticut for torturing
and killing a federal agent. She went to court every day as part of a
law student monitoring committee trying to spot civil rights violations
and develop grounds for appeal.

Bill says: Hillary spent a year after graduation working on a children's
rights project for poor kids.

The facts are: Hillary interned with Bob Truehaft, the head of the
California Communist Party. She met Bob when he represented the
Panthers and traveled all the way to San Francisco to take an internship
with him.

Bill says: Hillary could have written her own job ticket, but she turned
down all the lucrative job offers.

The facts are: She flunked the DC bar exam and only passed the Arkansas
bar.
She had no job offers in Arkansas and only got hired by the University
of Arkansas Law School at Fayetteville because Bill was already teaching
there.
She only joined the prestigious Rose Law Firm after Bill became Attorney
General and made partner only after he was elected governor.

Bill says: President Carter appointed Hillary to the Legal Services
Board of Directors and she became its chairman.

The facts are: The appointment was in exchange for Bill's support for
Carter in his 1980 primary against Ted Kennedy. Hillary became chairman
in a coup in which she won a majority away from Carter's choice to be
chairman.

Bill says: She served on the board of the Arkansas Children's Hospital.

The facts are: Yes she did. But her main board activity, not mentioned
by Bill, was to sit on the Walmart board of directors for a substantial
fee.
She was silent about their labor and health care practices.

Bill says: Hillary didn't succeed at getting health care for all
Americans in 1994 but she kept working at it and helped to create the
Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) that provides five million children with health insurance.

The facts are: Hillary had nothing to do with creating CHIP. It was
included in the budget deal between Clinton and Republican Majority
Leader Senator Trent Lott. I helped to negotiate the deal. The money
came half from the budget deal and half from the Attorney Generals'
tobacco settlement. Hillary had nothing to do with either source of
funds.

Bill says: Hillary was the face of America all over the world.

The facts are: Her visits were part of a
program to get her out of town so that Bill would not appear weak by
feeding stories that Hillary was running the White House. Her visits
abroad were entirely touristic and symbolic and there was no substantive
diplomacy on any of them.

Bill says: Hillary was an excellent Senator who kept fighting for
children's and women's issues.

The facts are: Other than totally meaningless legislation like changing
the names on courthouses and post offices, she has passed only four
substantive pieces of legislation. One set up a national park in Puerto
Rico. A second provided respite care for family members helping their
relatives through Alzheimer's or other conditions. And two were routine
bills to aid 9-11 victims and responders which were sponsored by the
entire NY delegation.

Here is what bothers me more than anything else about Hillary Clinton:
She has done everything possible to weaken the President and our country
when it comes to the war on terror.
1. She wants to close GITMO & move the combatants to the USA where they
would have access to our legal system.
2. She wants to eliminate the monitoring of suspected Al Qaeda phone
calls to/from the USA .
3. She wants to grant constitutional rights to enemy combatants
captured on the battlefield.
4. She wants to eliminate the monitoring of money transfers between
suspected Al Qaeda cells & supporters in the USA.
5. She wants to eliminate the type of interrogation tactics used by the<
BR>military & CIA where coercion might be used when questioning known
terrorists even though such tactics might save American lives.

I can't think of a single bill Hillary has introduced or a single
comment she has made that would tend to strengthen our country in the
War on Terror.
But, I can think of a lot of comments she has made that weaken our
country & makes it a more dangerous situation for all of us........She
goes hand in hand with the ACLU on far too many issues where common
sense is abandoned.

She is a disaster for all Americans

Ah, the liberal mindset...!

Putin is honored!

The 55-year-old Russian leader was chosen for the 2007 honour “for an extraordinary feat of leadership in taking a country that was in chaos and bringing it stability,” said Richard Stengel, Time's managing editor.

“He's the new czar of Russia, and he's dangerous in the sense that he doesn't care about civil liberties, he doesn't care about free speech,” Mr. Stengel said.

Article about it here.

Never mind that he's Russia's new dictator and that he ushers in the future of making Russia an evil empire of the end times. No, that wouldn't matter to the liberal mind!

Hanukkah!

I didn't know, (did you?) that Hanukkah is a celebration and remembrance of the brothers named Maccabees who held off an attack on the temple in Jerusalem for eight days and saved the temple back in the 2nd century BCE, whatever the E means. I didn't know that the Maccabees, the book in the Catholic bible was named after the last name of these brothers, and that the account of the revolt against the evil King at the time, Antiochus IV Epiphanes, is recorded there. Wow! I just learned this in a study of Daniel.

The brothers held off the attack for eight days and the oil in their candle, which normally lasted for only a day, burned miraculously during the eight days without burning out. That's why the Menorah! I'm still learning! Here is the Wikipedia account.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Pray For The Children

A woman in my bible study who is in the medical field, working in a hospital, said that there are a large number of children with psychological problems, in psychiatric wards, but few children's psychologists.

There are a large number of children impacted by bad parenting- a sign of the times, for what does the future hold? I am burdened. I want to do something about it but feel limited by my own weaknesses. Pray. Pray.

Strong Tower-Lyrics

Kutless

When I wander through the desert
And I'm longing for my home
All my dreams have gone astray
When I'm stranded in the valley
And I'm tired and all alone
It seems like I've lost my way

I go running to Your mountain
Where your mercy sets me free

[chorus]
You are my strong tower
Shelter over me
Beautiful and mighty
Everlasting King
You are my strong tower
Fortress when I'm weak
Your name is true and holy
And Your face is all I seek

In the middle of my darkness
In the midst of all my fear
You're my refuge and my hope
When the storm of life is raging
And the thunder's all I hear
You speak softly to my soul

Gun Control Vs. Doctor Control

This comes from my uncle, a retired doctor:

Some interesting statistics:

Physicians:
a. The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
b. Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
c. Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.
(Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept. of Health &Human Services)
Now think about this . . .

Guns:
a. The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000.
b. The number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups) is 1,500.
c. The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.000188 .
Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun
owners.

Remember, "Guns don't kill people; doctors do."

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE
DOCTOR. Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before
this gets completely out of hand!

Note: Out of concern for the public at large, I have withheld the statistics on
lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical
attention.

Jack (MD)

(This was very timely, posted on the day of the shootings in Colorado's New Life church and YWAM ministry.

Someone Stole My American Flag!

I had a sticker on the back of my car, and I went to a church on the University of Minnesota campus today. Apparently, some liberal mind who didn't like my sticker tore part of the flag off my car, forcing me to tear the rest of it off.

Can't believe I'm not supposed to express love for my country - non-partisan love for the country we live in, especially after 9/11! Unbelievable!

Now, America has made mistakes in relation to the world. America's people are full of imperfections. But on the other hand, we are still wonderful. We have done and continue to do wonderful things for people all over the world.

I love my country, and am ultimately proud more than ashamed of my country. There is nothing wrong with that.

Polar Bears Not "On The Brink"

according to this source...I just liked the picture!

The UK And The Holocaust

Someone has come on my blog and commented, not very nicely, however, he did email me later and aside from telling me why he and everyone in the world hates Americans, made an attempt at being nicer, and left me with some links. Here is one of the links. He is claiming that the email sent to me is incorrect, that the UK did not take the teaching of the Holocaust off its schools curriculum in general, and that they continue to teach on it.

What is true in the matter remains to be seen. All I know is what has been coming out about all the pressure from Muslims in the UK to conform to their wishes, and the desire of the English to bend to it. Just the fact that my visitor from the UK was mostly worried about my post offending Muslims says a lot. If what my post says is true, it doesn't matter what Muslims think about it.

If it is true, I want to know why Muslims would be offended by remembering the Holocaust, or by thinking there was a Holocaust.

If it isn't true, then where did this e-mail sent by my sister who lives in Germany originate? I trust my sister and her integrity.

I hope my "friend" from the UK will find peace in his soul.
