Our Eyes Fixed On Jesus

a sideways look at spiritual warfare by Guy Chevreau

The second phrase of this book’s title, “a sideways look at spiritual warfare,” is a recognition that we should give only peripheral consideration to Satan and spiritual warfare. The prince of darkness and his works must never have our front and centre attention. As men and women of faith, it is never ours to show more concern, interest or effort fighting the devil than worshipping and serving our Risen Lord….

This book is more an exposition of Christology than demonology, and more about our position and authority in Christ than the nature and strategies of the demonic hosts that rage against us.

It is my hope and prayer that it serves to bring you, my brothers and sisters, to a place of glorious freedom and confident authority, in the knowledge that though we live in the midst of a very real conflict, we’re not the ones at risk.

“In my early years as a preacher, I would spend countless hours praying for the demonized to be set free. I would ask the demons their names, yell, fight and cast them out, often long into the night. Most of those I prayed for were set free, but I was left exhausted! Guy’s book shows another way: authority through intimacy with God and the power of love. The closer we are to our all-powerful King, the easier deliverance is. We will always win through love. Thank God for His victory over the powers of darkness, and for Guy’s book.” —Heidi Baker, Director, Iris Ministries
