Cranberry Steamed Pudding

"To Die For"..a Christmas favorite from my Grandmother - very English, except the English don't have cranberries, and they would have used some other berry. Note: it will not look exactly like the picture as it will be sliced.

1/2 cup molasses
1/2 cup hot water
1 1/3 cup flour
1/2 tsp soda
1 tsp B.P.
1 cup whole raw cranberries

First flour the cranberries with 1/3 cup flour
Then mix the molasses and hot water and set aside
Mix: 1 cup flour, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp soda, 1 tsp B.P.
Add molasses mix to dry ingredients
Add the cranberries

Create mold out of large fruit can (2 1/2 size.) Line with wax paper. Fill with mix. Boil water in large kettle and set can in kettle and steam the mold in kettle for 1 1/2 hours. Take out of kettle and out of can and it will create small loaf. Slice in 1/4 slices to serve.

Buttery sauce to pour over:

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup cream
1/2 cup butter
1/2 tsp vanilla

heat until comes to boil

Look out - it's rich and fattening!
