Don't Throw Out The Baby With The Bathwater

Someone just gave me a booklet that Dodie Osteen wrote about her healing from cancer. It is an amazing story of faith and victory over disease. She is the evangelist's wife that Herb Mjorud talked about when he explained that he was inspired to speak out scriptures on healing each morning in order to obtain his healing from cancer as well.

Dodie Osteen is Joel Osteen's mother. I wrote about Joel Osteen and I just want to make clear since I have written about more than one minister who seems to be infected with the love of money and has compromised the pure gospel because of it, that there is more to them than meets the eye.

Joel was raised by godly parents, and Dodie has a real and vital faith which saved her from death. Joel's foundation through his parents was definitely solid and biblical. I just don't know what happened.

Mac Hammond teaches many good things on healing and faith and does many good things for people. And I wouldn't want to discredit him or throw out the many good things about his ministry just because of the emphasis on money that I found at his church.

We need unity in the body of Christ. If or when persecution comes, people like Joel Osteen and Mac Hammond will be targeted and subject to persection, and I hate to think that any of us, fellow members of the body of Christ would be happy to see them hurt in any way.

What Love Is - by children

Just a note from the blog author: these are the most profound words by children I have ever read.

This came in an email today:

Slow down for three minutes to read this. It is so worth it. Touching words from the mouth of babes.
A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, 'What does love mean?'
The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think.

'When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore.
So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love.'
Rebecca- age 8

'When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different.
You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.'
Billy - age 4

'Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other..'
Karl - age 5

'Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.'
Chrissy - age 6

'Love is what makes you smile when you're tired.'
Terri - age 4

'Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.'
Danny - age 7

'Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more..
My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss'
Emily - age 8

'Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.'
Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

'If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,'
Nikka - age 6
(we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet)

'Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday.'
Noelle - age 7

'Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.'
Tommy - age 6

'During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling.
He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore.'
Cindy - age 8

'My mommy loves me more than anybody
You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night.'
Clare - age 6

'Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.'
Elaine-age 5

'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.'
Chris - age 7

'Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.'
Mary Ann - age 4

'I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.'
Lauren - age 4

'When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.' (what an image)
Karen - age 7

'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross.'
Mark - age 6

'You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.'
Jessica - age 8

And the final one
The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.
Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.
When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said,
'Nothing, I just helped him cry'

When there is nothing left but God, that is when you find out that God is all you need.

23 Minutes in Hell

Watch here the story of a man who was forced to spend 23 minutes in hell so that he would realize how real it is and tell everyone not to go there!!!!

His name is Bill Wiese.

This makes me think of my own experience going to hell. Pray for me to write my story.

Dreams of Revival

The first is a dream I had a while ago, maybe two months ago. It had to be America, because it's people who remind me of Americans at their best - healthy people, happy people, mixed race - black and euro mix, and they are swimming in a river headed in some direction, and they are all being baptized - they are ecstatic. It's a picture of revival. And in my dream I think out loud to them "we must do more than survive!!!!"

I was saying that God meant for us to live abundant life, not just barely survive!

The second is a dream I had just last night. There is this man who was raised in the ghetto. Me and some other people are passing the ghetto where he was raised and talking about the horrible conditions that contributed to his upbringing, that caused him to be the way he is, that explain how he turned out.

This same man sends bad messages about the sanctity of life - he sends out test tubes with fetuses in them, and these send bad messages to women, somehow, about the sanctity of life. In retrospect I see that this man could have been Barack Obama.

Then I am in a situation where there are these gang members, and there are a lot of other people who would be in danger, but I tell the gang members that they can no longer do what they intended to do - it is over, and so they go away. And I marvel at the power and authority that I have in that situation.

Then, as the danger and disorder dissipates, good, decent parents of children come out of hiding and start assembling together, many for the first time in a long time. They are not formal, they are not dressed in their Sunday best - they are dressed in jeans and grubby shirts. They look tired and war-torn, but hopeful and as if they are gaining new strength and hope.

I realize that this is revival. Something is happening. People are waking up. Spiritual life is happening. I wake up.

Happy Blogiversary!

Sherri gave me the idea! I forgot I had passed another year too! Mine came in August. I started my blog in August of 2005. It has been 4 years.

I started blogging because I wanted to publish my essays, but I soon learned how fun it was to blog and how you could post pictures and upload things like videos.

Then Kingdavid came on the scene and showed me that a blog could be a daily thing and you could have total fun with it - just finding all sorts of things to blog about. I got hooked then and started to blog more passionately.

I started with Go Free Now and stopped after 300 posts. I thought you couldn't edit your blog if it exceeded 300 posts. So, I'm Free Now was formed and that's the blog you're reading - it's name has been changed to Garden of Eden.

I then decided to create a blog just for the essays that were my original purpose for blogging, and Journey of One Step was formed.

An Obama Halloween

This is from a year ago. This is basically what Rush Limbaugh suggested we should do on Halloween: Go up to a kid with a bag of candy and say, "have an Obama Halloween. I'll take some of your candy and give it to those less fortunate!" His words and the words of this cartoon are almost identical!

All things do work together for good!

The death of my cat has been working for good in my life. It's just amazing. I find myself feeling so much more tender hearted, caring for life more than I did. I think of everyone as someone who could be a person who could care for a pet, like my cat. I value life more, in my sorrow.

I find myself feeling more tenderhearted towards this man:

my father, who loved Buddy. It is because death has touched me, that I value his life more. And somehow, when I should be more cynical, I am less cynical - taking things more seriously, valuing life as I never thought I would.

God has used Buddy's death for good.

Christians who make Christianity look ridiculous!

Pastor Mark Grizzard, who is going to have a bible burning event on Halloween, to burn all bibles except the King James version, which he considers the only pure version of the bible, is just one of those Christians.

The Heart

A nurse on the pediatric ward, before listening to the little ones' chests, would plug the stethoscope into their ears and let them listen to their own heart. Their eyes would always light up with awe, but she never got a response equal to four-year old David's comment. Gently she tucked the stethoscope into his ears and placed the disk over his heart. 'Listen', she said...'What do you suppose that is?' He drew his eyebrows together in a puzzled line and looked up as if lost in the mystery of the strange tap - tap - tapping deep in his chest. Then his face broke out in a wondrous grin and he asked, 'Is that Jesus knocking?'

He could be a king!

It just goes to show....you never know when the person who is taking care of you in a hospital bed might actually be a king in another country!!!!!!!!!!

I was touched by his story because he sounds like a great person - humbly waiting on the sick and elderly, while he is royalty in another country.

This is "Coming to America" come to life!!!! That is just cool!

Talking Dog

A guy is driving around the back woods of Montana and he sees a sign in front of a broken down shanty-style house: 'Talking Dog For Sale '

He rings the bell and the owner appears and tells him the dog is in the backyard.

The guy goes into the backyard and sees a nice looking Labrador retriever sitting there.

'You talk?' he asks.

'Yep,' the Lab replies.

After the guy recovers from the shock of hearing a dog talk, he says 'So, what's your story?'
The Lab looks up and says, 'Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young. I wanted to help the government, so I told the CIA. In no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping.'
'I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years running. But the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger so I decided to settle down.

I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security, wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded a batch of medals.' 'I got married, had a mess of puppies, and now I'm just retired.'

The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks the owner what he wants for the dog.

'Ten dollars,' the guy says.

'Ten dollars? This dog is amazing! Why on earth are you selling him so cheap?'

'Because he's a liar. He never did any of that Crap.'

In Stone

TWO FRIENDS WERE WALKING THROUGH THE DESERT. DURING SOME POINT OF THE JOURNEY, THEY HAD AN ARGUMENT; AND ONE FRIEND SLAPPED THE OTHER ONE IN THE FACE

THE ONE WHO GOT SLAPPED WAS HURT, BUT WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING, WROTE IN THE SAND , "TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE . "

THEY KEPT ON WALKING, UNTIL THEY FOUND AN OASIS, WHERE THEY DECIDED TO TAKE A BATH, THE ONE WHO HAD BEEN SLAPPED GOT STUCK IN THE MIRE AND STARTED DROWNING, BUT THE FRIEND SAVED HIM.

AFTER HE RECOVERED FROM THE NEAR DROWNING,
HE WROTE ON A STONE:

'TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE'

THE FRIEND WHO HAD SLAPPED AND SAVED HIS BEST FRIEND ASKED HIM, 'AFTER I HURT YOU, YOU WROTE IN THE SAND AND NOW, YOU WRITE ON A STONE, WHY?'

THE FRIEND REPLIED
'WHEN SOMEONE HURTS US WE SHOULD WRITE IT DOWN IN SAND, WHERE WINDS OF FORGIVENESS CAN ERASE IT AWAY. BUT, WHEN SOMEONE DOES SOMETHING GOOD FOR US, WE MUST ENGRAVE IT IN STONE WHERE NO WIND CAN EVER ERASE IT'

LEARN TO WRITE YOUR HURTS IN THE SAND AND TO CARVE YOUR BENEFITS IN STONE.

THEY SAY IT TAKES A MINUTE TO FIND A SPECIAL PERSON, AN HOUR TO APPRECIATE THEM, A DAY TO LOVE THEM, BUT THEN , AN ENTIRE LIFE TO FORGET THEM.

An exacting lesson from the Old Testament.....

It is amazing to see that very little has changed in 4,000 years.

RECENT VIRGINIA CHURCH SERVICE - STIMULUS SERMON
Gen 47:13-27
Good morning, brothers and sisters; it's always a delight to see the pews crowded on Sunday morning, and so eager to get into God's Word. Turn with me in your Bibles, if you will to the 47th chapter of Genesis, we'll begin our reading at verse 13, and through verse 27.

Brother Ray, would you stand and read that great passage for us?
...(reading)...

Thank you for that fine reading, Brother Ray... So we see that economic hard times fell upon Egypt, and the people turned to the government of Pharaoh to deal with this for them. And Pharaoh nationalized the grain harvest, and placed the grain in great storehouses that he had built. So the people brought their money to Pharaoh, like a great tax increase, and gave it all to him willingly in return for grain. And this went on until their money ran out, and they were hungry again.

So when they went to Pharaoh after that, they brought their livestock - their cattle, their horses, their sheep, and their donkeys - to barter for grain, and verse 17 says that only took them through the end of that year. But the famine wasn't over, was it?

So the next year, the people came before Pharaoh and admitted they had nothing left, except their land and their own lives. "There is nothing left in the sight of my lord but our bodies and our land. Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for food, and we with our land will be servants to Pharaoh." So they surrendered their homes, their land, and their real estate to Pharaoh's government, and then sold themselves into slavery to him, in return for grain.

What can we learn from this, brothers and sisters? That turning to the government instead of to God to be our provider in
hard times only leads to slavery? Yes. That the only reason government wants to be our provider is to also become our master? Yes.

But look how that passage ends, brothers and sisters! Thus Israel settled in the land of Egypt, in the land of Goshen. And they gained possessions in it, and were fruitful and multiplied greatly." God provided for His people, just as always has! They didn't end up giving all their possessions to government, no, they gained possessions!

But I also tell you a great truth today, and an ominous one. We see the same thing happening today - the government today wants to "share the wealth" once again, to take it from us and redistribute it back to us. It wants to take control of healthcare, just as it has taken control of education, and ration it back to us, and when government rations it, then government decides who gets it, and how much, and what kind. And if we go along with it, and do it willingly, then we will wind up no differently than the people of Egypt did four thousand years ago - as slaves to the government, and as slaves to our leaders.

What Mr. Obama's government is doing now is no different from what Pharaoh's government did then, and it will end the same. And a lot of people like to call Mr. Obama a "Messiah," don't they? Is he a Messiah? A savior? Didn't the Egyptians say, after Pharaoh made them his slaves, "You have saved our lives; may it please my lord, we will be servants to
Pharaoh"?

Well, I tell you this - I know the Messiah; the Messiah is a friend of mine; and Mr. Obama is no Messiah! No, brothers and sisters, if Mr. Obama is a character from the Bible, then he is Pharaoh.

Bow with me in prayer, if you will.

Lord, You alone are worthy to be served, and we rely on You, and You alone. We confess that the government is not our deliverer, and never rightly will be. We read in the eighth chapter of 1 Samuel, when Samuel warned the people of what a ruler would do, it says "And in that day you will cry out because of your king, whom you have chosen for yourselves, but the LORD will not answer you in that day." And Lord, we acknowledge that day has come. We cry out to you because of the ruler that we have chosen for ourselves as a nation. Lord, we pray for this nation. We pray for revival, and we pray for deliverance from those who would be our masters. Give us hearts to seek You and hands to serve You, and protect Your people from the atrocities of Pharaoh's government. Thru Jesus, Amen.

In God We Trust...

The Potty

A LITTLE THREE YEAR OLD BOY IS SITTING ON THE TOILET. HIS MOTHER THINKS HE HAS BEEN IN THERE TOO LONG, SO SHE GOES IN TO SEE WHAT'S UP. THE LITTLE BOY IS SITTING ON THE TOILET READING A BOOK. BUT ABOUT EVERY 10 SECONDS OR SO HE PUTS THE BOOK DOWN, GRIPS ONTO TO THE TOILET SEAT WITH HIS LEFT HAND AND HITS HIMSELF ON TOP OF THE HEAD WITH HIS RIGHT HAND.
HIS MOTHER SAYS: "BILLY, ARE YOU ALL RIGHT? YOU'VE BEEN IN HERE FOR A WHILE.
BILLY SAYS: "I'M FINE, MOMMY.. I JUST HAVEN'T GONE 'DOODY' YET."
MOTHER SAYS: "OK, YOU CAN STAY HERE A FEW MORE MINUTES. BUT, BILLY, WHY ARE YOU HITTING YOURSELF ON THE HEAD?"

BILLY SAYS: "WORKS FOR KETCHUP."

The Director's Choice

Seeing you as God sees you - maybe everyone else just doesn't get it. Based on 1 Corinthians 1: 26-29

26Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29so that no one may boast before him.

Alabama Judge

Some of you may be wondering what Judge Roy Moore has been doing since he was removed from the bench for refusing to remove the Ten Commandments from his courtroom wall.. Please read the poem he wrote. It's below his picture.

The following is a poem written by Judge Roy Moore from Alabama . Judge Moore was sued by the ACLU for displaying the Ten Commandments in his courtroom foyer.. He has been stripped of his judgeship and now they are trying to strip his right to practice law in Alabama ! The judge's poem sums it up quite well..

America the beautiful,
or so you used to be.
Land of the Pilgrims' pride;
I'm glad they'll never see.

Babies piled in dumpsters,
Abortion on demand,
Oh, sweet land of liberty;
your house is on the sand.

Our children wander aimlessly
poisoned by cocaine
choosing to indulge their lusts,
when God has said abstain

From sea to shining sea,
our Nation turns away
From the teaching of God's love
and a need to always pray

We've kept God in our
temples, how callous we have grown.
When earth is but His footstool,
and Heaven is His throne.

We've voted in a government
that's rotting at the core,
Appointing Godless Judges;
who throw reason out the door,

Too soft to place a killer
in a well deserved tomb,
But brave enough to kill a baby
before he leaves the womb.

You think that God's not
angry, that our land's a moral slum?
How much longer will He wait
before His judgment comes?

How are we to face our God,
from Whom we cannot hide?
What then is left for us to do,
but stem this evil tide?

If we who are His children,
will humbly turn and pray;
Seek His holy face
and mend our evil way:

Then God will hear from Heaven;
and forgive us of our sins,
He'll heal our sickly land
and those who live within.

But, America the Beautiful,
If you don't - then you will see,
A sad but Holy God
withdraw His hand from Thee..

Mourning the loss of an animal

Who can understand it?
An animal binds itself to your heart.
An animal has such a strong effect on your life,
even when you don't interact.
It just brushes by you day in and day out
and you feel its presence and it is so strong.
You love having the animal there.
It is comfort.
You call his name when you come home.
You fill his food and water dish by instinct, never
wanting them to run dry.
You never mind scooping the things out of the litter box.
You scoop every day, out of love.
Sometimes he sleeps by your side, nestling inside your bent leg,
inside the
back of your knee.
He'll sleep with you for hours.
It is comfort.
He's there for you during difficult times.
He's always comfort and joy.
He loves to scamper and play.
He loves to lie on his back and expose his tummy.
He loves a tummy rub.
Everything about him becomes absolutely precious
when he is gone.
There is a dead silence without him.
Heaven, you think of heaven. He is in heaven.
Held in the arms of the shepherd.

Buddy - my furry companion, is gone!

Now you have to understand that I believe in miraculous healing, and that I believed in that for my beautiful longhaired red tabby, Buddy, even for a behavior problem as he had.

But we needed a miracle quickly, because he was threatening to stink up the house and the furniture with cat urine, and that I'm not willing to abide, in addition to the fact that I am living at someone else's house, not my own.

He suddenly changed from being a docile, adorable cat who always went in his litter box, to suddenly urinating and defecating outside his box on the living room couch.

There is no explanation for this and it sounds truly demonic. I inquired of two pastors who believe in deliverance ministry and in the power of prayer. They instructed me how to pray for him and to take authority over whatever is wrong with him.

I took him to a vet, who said he has no physical problem, and that it is behavioral. It makes no sense. I only took it to mean that something demonic had taken hold.

But having come against all curses that might have been put on him, and against any demons that might be on or in him, and having prayed for his healing, and having had people praying for his healing, and still finding myself in the middle of a storm, I had to come to the conclusion that God was asking me to part with Buddy.

Buddy is gone now. He has gone to the Rainbow Bridge where I will meet him one day. I know that he rests with the angels, as I know all animals, made by God, go back to Him.

Now is when you had better realize that you will not see your animal again unless your soul is headed for heaven, because all beautiful animals such as cats will be in heaven. Make sure you are right with God, your creator.

It is a sad day, and it probably hasn't hit me yet, but this is my tribute to Buddy!
