Report on Mac Hammond

I went to Mac Hammond's church recently. I thought I would share my reflections on that.

It didn't all go smooth. Jesse Duplantis was there and I was quite put off by too much talk about money, again, and I thought "Lord, what do you want me to think?"

But that wasn't all that happened.

After Duplantis spoke, Hammond got up on stage to close the service. He looked fantastic. I hear he is between 65 and 69 years old and he looks better than when I left the church about ten years ago. He is thinner and in great shape. He is grayer, but his face looks great!

I thought that this was a great testimony to all the people poo pooing his "prosperity message." "Living well is the best revenge." Just kidding. He's not out for revenge. But his body spoke volumes. The wisdom of how he takes care of himself spoke loudly to me.

Then I saw his message today on TV. While all the other stations had sports and politics on a Sunday morning, Mac Hammond's "prosperity gospel" had won him time on a major network during an appropriate time for TV church.

His message was very good. He talked about a pure heart. He said that a pure heart is evident in 2 ways: 1) that one does not "lift up his soul to an idol." He said in another version it says that a person does not give himself to any worthless thing. He talked about how this relates to finances, but to life in general.

2) that one makes commitments. He talked about the serious lack of people making commitments in the body of Christ.

It was totally convicting. No, I think I'm making my peace with Mac Hammond.

The 5 Best Sentences You'll Ever Read!

These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read:

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity
by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

What one person receives without working for,
another person must work for without receiving..

The government cannot give to anybody anything
that the government does not first take from somebody else.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work
because the other half is going to take care of them,
and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work
because somebody else is going to get what they work for.
That my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

A New Day Is Dawning In America

Margaret Rutherford Tribute

The Margaret Rutherford Refuge

How I adore Margaret Rutherford, star of old Agatha Christie films. She looks, in my opinion, like a human Bassett Hound, which may not sound too flattering.

But there is another category of people that you may want to consider joining, if the other ones haven't worked out for you - the category of cute. She is the cutest human being ever.

And she is full of life - doing everything as an old lady that any young person does, including having a "boyfriend" who adores her.

She is the sly sleuth, solving crimes as well as any young, male detective.

She has everything to live for, telling us that we have nothing to fear if getting older means losing the element of "sexy."

Her famous line is: "we can't all be young and handsome."

This line keeps coming back to me, and visions of her face as I get older. And I chuckle.

Thanks, Margaret Rutherford!

The Economy

Its a slow day in a little East Texas town. The sun is beating
and the streets are deserted. Times are tough, everybody is in debt,
everybody lives on credit.....

On this particular day a rich tourist from back east is driving

through town. He stops at the motel and lays a $100 bill on the desk

saying he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one to

spend the night.

As soon as the man walks upstairs, the owner grabs the bill and
next door to pay his debt to the butcher.

The butcher takes the $100 and runs down the street to retire his

debt to the pig farmer.

The pig farmer takes the $100 and heads off to pay his bill at
supplier of feed and fuel.

The guy at the Farmer's Co-op takes the $100 and runs to pay his

debt to the local prostitute, who has also been facing hard times and
had to offer her "services" on credit.

The hooker rushes to the hotel and pays off her room bill with
hotel owner.

The hotel proprietor then places the $100 back on the counter so
rich traveler will not suspect anything.

At that moment the traveler comes down the stairs, picks up the
bill, states that the rooms are not satisfactory, pockets the money,
leaves town.

No one produced anything. No one earned anything.

However, the whole town is now out of debt and now looks to the

future with a lot more optimism.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how the United States
is conducting business today.

National Geographic Video - Must See!

In this video, this National Geographic photographer shares this amazing story about his encounter with "wild" life in the sea - an animal that acted on his behalf to try to save his life, and totally amazed him. It shows how amazing God's creation truly is.

Quotes By Martin Luther King, Jr.

Here is a site that has quotes by him.

Here are a few of my favorites:

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.

I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.

I just want to do God's will. And he's allowed me to go to the mountain. And I've looked over, and I've seen the promised land! I may not get there with you, but I want you to know tonight that we as a people will get to the promised land.

If a man hasn't discovered something that he will die for, he isn't fit to live.

A man can't ride you unless your back is bent.

If you can find a better deal, take it!

What I love about this is, it's a 'sermon' with swearing in it. Way to go, Ann!

by Ann Coulter

Someone mentioned Christianity on television recently and liberals reacted with their usual howls of rage and blinking incomprehension.

On a Fox News panel discussing Tiger Woods, Brit Hume said, perfectly accurately:

"The extent to which he can recover, it seems to me, depends on his faith. He is said to be a Buddhist. I don't think that faith offers the kind of forgiveness and redemption that is offered by the Christian faith. So, my message to Tiger would be, 'Tiger, turn to the Christian faith and you can make a total recovery and be a great example to the world."

Hume's words, being 100 percent factually correct, sent liberals into a tizzy of sputtering rage, once again illustrating liberals' copious ignorance of Christianity. (Also illustrating the words of the Bible: "How is it you do not understand me when I speak? It is because you cannot bear to listen to my words." John 8:43.)

In The Washington Post, Tom Shales demanded that Hume apologize, saying he had "dissed about half a billion Buddhists on the planet."

Is Buddhism about forgiveness? Because, if so, Buddhists had better start demanding corrections from every book, magazine article and blog posting ever written on the subject, which claims Buddhists don't believe in God, but try to become their own gods.

I can't imagine that anyone thinks Tiger's problem was that he didn't sufficiently think of himself as a god, especially after that final putt in the Arnold Palmer Invitational last year.

In light of Shales' warning Hume about "what people are saying" about him, I hope Hume's a Christian, but that's not apparent from his inarguable description of Christianity. Of course, given the reaction to his remarks, apparently one has to be a regular New Testament scholar to have so much as a passing familiarity with the basic concept of Christianity.

On MSNBC, David Shuster invoked the "separation of church and television" (a phrase that also doesn't appear in the Constitution), bitterly complaining that Hume had brought up Christianity "out-of-the-blue" on "a political talk show."

Why on earth would Hume mention religion while discussing a public figure who had fallen from grace and was in need of redemption and forgiveness? Boy, talk about coming out of left field!

What religion -- what topic -- induces this sort of babbling idiocy? (If liberals really want to keep people from hearing about God, they should give Him his own show on MSNBC.)

Most perplexing was columnist Dan Savage's indignant accusation that Hume was claiming that Christianity "offers the best deal -- it gives you the get-out-of-adultery-free card that other religions just can't."

In fact, that's exactly what Christianity does. It's the best deal in the universe. (I know it seems strange that a self-described atheist and "radical sex advice columnist f*****" like Savage would miss the central point of Christianity, but there it is.)

God sent his only son to get the crap beaten out of him, die for our sins and rise from the dead. If you believe that, you're in. Your sins are washed away from you -- sins even worse than adultery! -- because of the cross.

"He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross." Colossians 2:14.

Surely you remember the cross, liberals -- the symbol banned by ACLU lawsuits from public property throughout the land?

Christianity is simultaneously the easiest religion in the world and the hardest religion in the world.

In the no-frills, economy-class version, you don't need a church, a teacher, candles, incense, special food or clothing; you don't need to pass a test or prove yourself in any way. All you'll need is a Bible (in order to grasp the amazing deal you're getting) and probably a water baptism, though even that's disputed.

You can be washing the dishes or walking your dog or just sitting there minding your business hating Susan Sarandon and accept that God sent his only son to die for your sins and rise from the dead ... and you're in!

"Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9.

If you do that, every rotten, sinful thing you've ever done is gone from you. You're every bit as much a Christian as the pope or Billy Graham.

No fine print, no "your mileage may vary," no blackout dates. God ought to do a TV spot: "I'm God Almighty, and if you can find a better deal than the one I'm offering, take it."

The Gospel makes this point approximately 1,000 times. Here are a few examples at random:

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God." Ephesians 2:8.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23.

In a boiling rage, liberals constantly accuse Christians of being "judgmental." No, we're relieved.

Christianity is also the hardest religion in the world because, if you believe Christ died for your sins and rose from the dead, you have no choice but to give your life entirely over to Him. No more sexual promiscuity, no lying, no cheating, no stealing, no killing inconvenient old people or unborn babies -- no doing what all the other kids do.

And no more caring what the world thinks of you -- because, as Jesus warned in a prophecy constantly fulfilled by liberals: The world will hate you.

With Christianity, your sins are forgiven, the slate is wiped clean and your eternal life is guaranteed through nothing you did yourself, even though you don't deserve it. It's the best deal in the universe

Financial Blessing

I just did a post over in my blog Journey of One Step related to finances. It is a collection of verses that you can say out loud that will transform you financially.

You can find an end to your money woes if you speak God's word out loud regularly regarding this area of your life.

Miss Him Yet?

Haiti's Only Hope Is Christ

Haiti must hear the word of God. Haitians need to hear the truth about the consequences of sin, and learn to repent of the sin that has brought so much disaster. It is long-standing sin that has brought major natural disasters on countries. And the USA will be no different if she does not turn and repent. There will be major natural or man-made disasters in the US if the people of the US do not turn from their wicked ways and turn back to God.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Puzzled Blonde

A blonde calls her boyfriend and says, "Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure out how to get started."

Her boyfriend asks, "What is it supposed to be when it's finished?"

The blonde says, "According to the picture on the box, it's a rooster."

Her boyfriend decides to go over and help with the puzzle.

She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table.

He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says,

"First of all, no matter what we do, we're not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a rooster."

He takes her hand and says, "Secondly, I want you to relax. Let's have a nice cup of tea, and then," he said with a deep sigh. .. . ... .. ..

"Let's put all the Corn Flakes back in the box."

The Wisdom of Derek Prince - Protection

Declaration of Confidence in God's Protection

Derek Prince:

Someone asked us: "How do you protect yourself if you live anywhere in the Middle East or the Balkans, where people are always putting curses on other people?" There are many answers I could give, but here is just one thing that Ruth and I do every night.

Is 54:17 says this: "No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their righteousness is from Me, says the Lord."

The important statement is, "Our righteousness is from the Lord." It is not our own righteousness. The Lord has covered us with a robe of His righteousness. If we were to come against Satan and curses in our own righteousness, we would have nothing to stand on. So every night before we go to sleep, Ruth and I make this declaration. It takes only two or three minutes.

No weapon that is formed against us shall prosper and every tongue which rises against us in judgment we do condemn. This is our heritage as servants of the Lord and our righteousness is from You, O Lord of Hosts. If there are those who have been speaking or praying against us or seeking harm or evil to us or have rejected us, we forgive them and, having forgiven them, we bless them in the name of the Lord. *

Now we declare, O Lord, that You and You alone are our God, and besides You there is no other - a just God and a Savior, the Father, the Son and the Spirit - and we worship You!

We submit ourselves afresh to You tonight in unreserved obedience. Having submitted to You, Lord, we do as Your Word directs. We resist the devil: all his pressures, his attacks, his deceptions, every instrument or agent he would seek to use against us. We do not submit! We resist him, drive him out from us and exclude him from us in the Name of Jesus. Specifically, we reject and repel:

Every Form of Witchcraft

Finally, Lord, we thank You that through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, we have passed out from under the curse and entered into the blessing of Abraham whom you blessed in all things.**

God restores. She is the healing of my heart.

My cousin brought her from his brother's farm. They had named her sister Grace, and her, Glory.

She is medium to long haired and presents a grooming challenge. Ask me if I care. She is "Polydactyl," with a fifth toe, a "mitten cat."
