As old as I am, I have an insatiable need for new music. I cannot stand nostalgic music and just about die when people have the oldies 60, 70's and 80's stations on.
Well, don't plan on attending any of our parties. That's all I listen to, the old stuff. The only contemporary music I do listen to is Christian on KTIS. Like one of my all-time favorites, Bob Seger, sang---I like that old time rock & roll, that kind of music just soothes the soul.
KD - I have a lot of painful memories of the 60's 70's and 80's, but beyond that, I just don't desire to live in the past. I am a musician. I write music.
I am not writing music now, or even making music, but while I am not, I thrive on the fresh, new music of others. I have worked with young people, and one of the reasons I get along with them, perhaps is that I have this in common with them - I am always changing.
I don't stay in the same place, with the same things, at least with regards to music. Like with worship music. That song Majesty I posted, written in 2003. That one I still like, but by now, it's almost worn out for me too, like so many. I always need new music. And in worship, new music helps me worship God, it releases me. It touches me because it touches the artistic side of me that longs for what is new and creative.
As I see it, your mind is incredibly fresh and creative - you're always bringing in new stuff and you think of new and creative ideas every day. Interesting then that you stay with old music. Who would have thunk it? But that's what make the world go round - different folks.
That's what makes you the character you are - the Lynard Skynard stuff and all. It's all part of your persona. Here's where we part in mind - in our music tastes. Man, even KTIS stuff is so repetitive to me.

Well, kingdavid. Parties can be kinda fun with oldies.
