Black people transcended much of their pain through faith and this began as far back as the 1600s.
Both clung to faith, the journey different but the reaching for hope in the face of humiliation and deprivation the same.
I'm understand that Pharrell Williams' family dates back to the 1600s in Virginia. All.i can say is wow. Pharrell represents transcending, and probably faith had much to do with it.
Today we have an epidemic of rebellion, lack of honor for generations before, and nihilism.
Many, descendants of Swedes and Black Americans have forsaken their forbears' faith and it began with boomers. When Reagan said "it only takes one generation" he was addressing that general, but what kind of loonies would see that as an invitation to greatness? Well. Loonies that were boomers.
