I have a small magazine that my parents receive. It is just one of the updates that come in the mail of missionaries to foreign lands through one of the many organizations that commission God's people. It is small, Lutheran and hardly known. The people they talk about are amazing and do amazing things in the work of the kingdom. Unsung heroes! It talks about a "Field Developer Couple" John and Betsy Gronseth, who will go to Beijing, China for a year of language study. They will then go to Xinyang and take long term on-site responsibilities. At this point two possibilities appear foremost: take responsibility for a high school class composed of poor rural students, or initiate a Community Library with the local inhabitants in a variety of subjects.
Already they have raised 5 children and served 10 years in Indonesia with Wycliffe Bible translators. In Indonesia, the husband John served as a pilot providing transportation into remote jungle villages, and his wife Betsy served as a nurse and was involved in ministries to the local children.
Shortly after returning to the states they made the decision to stay in the US to help their oldest child, Katie, who had just graduated from high school in Indonesia and had started college in Wheaton, IL to acclimate to college life. They settled in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to be nearer to Katie and also to be closer to their parents and other extended family members who were living in St Paul and Chicago.
After that they had a stirring in their hearts drawing them back to missions.
The article tells more about them, but let me just interject by saying that I am inspired and humbled by hearing about Christians who live so heartily for the Lord by faith, especially when I live day to day a kind of survival story. I'm glad there are those who are able to carry the gospel with such passion.

I appreciated your blog because Betsy was one of my best friends in college and I remember when she and John met, married and went off on their mission work! I've lost touch and appreciate hearing of the good work they are doing!
