to gain the whole world, but forfeit his(her) soul? Matthew 16:26 I thought of this verse while pondering the life of Elizabeth Taylor. She has gained "everything" in life but is already losing everything as she loses her health which money can't buy, and as she heads towards death where she stands to lose her eternal soul. She is such a sad case, I felt moved to pray for her today. Read about her here. It's about her marrying for the ninth time, plus other interesting stuff on how she tries to use money to solve her problems!

Elizabeth Taylor is just doing what we all do: she's trying desperately to make herself happy; to find the thing that fills the void; to be satisfied.
As Solomon says, it's all "meaningless, a chasing after the wind" if we're looking somewhere other than Jesus.

One of the challenges of being “rich and famous” is that they have the potential to build ungodly pride. It becomes a vicious cycle of trying to out new “highs”, but unfortunately unless one turns to Jesus there is a big low at the end…
