May Day?

"On 1 May, children wear flower crowns and dance with ribbons around the ceremonial maypole to celebrate May Day. But in the 17th century, some high-profile Brits feared the holiday’s pagan origins and lovemaking rituals, and subsequently threatened to end the celebration for good."

Here you see the Christian versus pagan view of this holiday. When growing up in 1960s small town Minnesota, this had become for Us just more of a children's holiday where we made our own may day baskets which we brought to friends' houses. I remember also may poles with ribbons, dance, and wearing flowers, a dance would be put on by our town  Nice, very non pagan.

Again, the idea was to have a substitute holiday for Christians falling on the same day with the same name.

Otherwise it was a pagan holiday that had very bad morals. Some where in America and Europe they are wanting to celebrate "old school."
