When u try to understand God's agonizing patience maybe it has to do with the above scripture, He is wary of doing anything to well the slightest hope of any life left in a person, spiritually, which is your dimly burning wick. You may be sure someone is dead spiritually but God knows if that is not true and He will not eliminate the possibility if there any possibility at all of reviving what is almost dead.
