Every Promise In The Book Is Mine

Bob Mumford is a preacher who came through the Twin Cities in the early 70's who joked about Christians singing the song cheerfully "Every promise in the book is mine, every chapter, every verse every line" and then he'd say, "yeh, well what about the verse, All those who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted?"

Sometimes the persecution can be just mental torment, which seems to have been the case with Mother Teresa. I can relate to that. Even though I never was raised in the Catholic striving in your own strength ideas, we've all had to work out our own tendencies to strive in our own strength to live the Christian life.

GabrielleEden, I am amazed, not surprised, but saddened over the benighted soul of Mother Teresa. Only the Bible can send us to a real encounter with its source of inspiration, the Word. Unfortunately for Ms. Teresa, the organization she worked for, the Catholic church, does not hold the Bible as supreme. Thus they have sent untold billions to the grave, sunken in depression and without the victorious faith. Her stricken soul, with exception for 5 weeks, never could say, "I'm free now." Thank God you have His holy word. Through it the Son sets us free.

Hi David! Yes, thank God I have that which enables me to say "I'm Free Now!" I am saddened too to hear about Mother Theresa, but frankly, not surprised either.
