No Man Can Heal A Man

This is the title of one of the workshops being presented at the Holy Spirit Conference at North Heights Lutheran Church in Arden Hills this weekend. I love that title because it embodies what I have learned lately.

I went off medication only to be rudely reminded that I wasn't healed of manic-depression when I landed upside-down in my car due to being delusional in April of '06. I was believing what I had been taught - to confess healing scriptures over and over and to believe (for ex:Charles Capps). I now understand the fallacy in this.

We cannot experience healing until we become utterly dependent on God, not on our faith, not on anything that we do. I was believing in my faith, in The Word. Even the Word of God does not heal. God does. It is God Himself! How ridiculous. We think that we re doing some magic by believing or by confessing scripture. We are not doing the work! No healing is accomplished unless God moves and heals.

Also, I learned that Satan is a defeated foe. I stopped fighting Satan all the time and learned that if we are submitted to God, he will flee. Jesus said He gave us all power over the enemy.

The thing is that I believe in God's sovereign will to heal, in general, revealed in His word - all over His word. Jesus mainly went around healing people, and He said He was God in the flesh revealing the heart of the Father. God wants to heal and restore us, but until He does, there is nothing we can do. We are utterly helpless and dependent on Him.

It is in knowing this that I have begun to experience God's healing lately. Another thing I have learned is the importance of meditation and being quiet and not too busy. Americans are robbed of many spiritual blessings because of this problem.

Good reminder, Gabrielle! Good honest post! And so very true. The Enemy HAS been defeated, and when we call on Jesus' name, the Enemy will flee.
